Can I introduce myself? My name is Angela Chatelain – and no, I am not French. The name Chatelain actually originates from Switzerland. I was born in New Jersey, grew up in Berne and am now based in Zurich, so I feel at home in quite a few places. When I’m not sipping a glass of rosé on a roof terrace or testing some fancy ice cream creations in the Gelateria, you can always find me outdoors and about somewhere in the city of Zurich – on my (I admit it) somewhat rickety ladies’ bicycle.
How it all began
I like to tell stories – no matter if digital, offline or face-to-face. I not only enjoy conceiving them, but also implementing them in an exciting, playful and appealing way. This passion most likely (or rather surely) led me to this area in which I operate today: communication. My primary job was to enter the industry in an advertising agency and then in the Institute for Digital Business at the HWZ Hochschule für Wirtschaft in Zurich. As a member of the HWZ Alumni Club “Digital Minds Society”, I met Roger Azigbo and Stefan Steuble, two of Mazzuro’s founders. Sheer coincidence? As we all know, there are no coincidences – so one thing led to another and now I have the privilege of contributing my know-how to Mazzuro.
Shared passion
The question now is, what am I doing in the Mazzuro team? There is another plausible explanation for this – apart from my professional experience: my dedication to fashion. Clothing was never just a tool for me, but rather a way to express myself and to carry my personality to the outside world – a complex mixture of the desire to stand out from the crowd and yet not to be overly offensive in society. My passion for unusual trends, high-quality fabrics and unique pieces paved the way for everything that followed. In my bachelor’s degree, I met Sara Kieffer, who shared my passion for fashion just as strongly. It was quickly evident that we wanted to consolidate and develop together in this field. For almost three years now, we have been successfully implementing projects in the field of fashion, styling and communication as the freelance collective ROKOKOH.
The right combination
Well then, how does it work exactly? As fashion stylists we work with photographers, models, hair and make-up artists and realize shootings for magazines and campaigns. For customer orders we strive to reflect the brand image ideally through the styling. We not only make sure that each person’s merits are highlighted by the clothing, but also that patterns, cuts and colors match the personality, brand or campaign. The fashion industry, like many other industries, is in times of change – and this not only forces the fast-moving world of fashion to adopt new strategic directions, but also changes the requirements for successful fashion communication. Therefore, ROKOKOH offers not only classic fashion styling but also communication consulting for the fashion, design and lifestyle industry, thus trying to skilfully combine the different disciplines.
Entering a new adventure with Mazzuro
In the future, I will therefore be able to prove my involvement and know-how in the field of fashion and communication in the Mazzuro team. A great new adventure, which I am looking forward to immensely. The principle of the platform has not only convinced me, but also inspired me. Especially during the development and creation of ROKOKOH I encountered challenges like: Who designs our business cards? How do we develop a website? Who will create a fitting logo for us? All of these steps can easily be done by experts on Mazzuro. And not only that: From the best fabric suppliers to helpful outsourcing options to gifted freelancers, Mazzuro successfully supports the entire start-up and development process – a great service that certainly shouldn’t be missed.
Well, let’s get back to me and my job at Mazzuro: On this blog, I will be writing some exciting interviews, reports, portraits and articles about textiles, fashion, interior and design. So stay tuned – and tune in as soon as I post new content. 😉
